There are several reasons why you may be unable to sign in to your Dublin City University (DCU) staff account, including your staff email, Core, Loop, and other university services. Follow the steps below to identify and resolve the issue.
Who is this for?
Staff members of Dublin City University (DCU).
Common causes and solutions
1. Outstanding Cybersecurity Awareness Training (CSAT)
Monthly Cybersecurity Awareness Training (CSAT) is mandatory for all staff. If you do not complete the training within the allocated month, your account is automatically locked.
Fix: You can unlock your account by completing any outstanding modules.
Action: Check your training status on the Cybersecurity Awareness platform.

2. Forgotten or expired password
If you have forgotten your password or it has expired, you can reset it using the self-service tool.
Action: Follow the instructions in the Password reset guide.
3. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) issues
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required to access your account.
New Setup: If you have not configured MFA, follow the steps in How to install MFA.
New Phone: If you have a new device but still have access to the old one, follow Transferring MFA to a new device.
Lost or Stolen Phone: If you no longer have access to your MFA device, your settings must be reset by a technician.
Action: Please submit a support request through DCU Help for assistance.
4. Contractual status
Your staff account is automatically locked if you do not have a current, active contract recorded in the university systems.
Action: If you are awaiting a new contract or an extension, contact DCU People to ensure your records are updated. Digital Technology Solutions (DTS) cannot bypass contract-related account locks.
