Eduroam is the WIFI network at DCU
Eduroam is the secure, encrypted Wi-Fi network available at Dublin City University (DCU). All students and staff must configure their digital devices to use eduroam for on-campus wireless access. Authentication is managed through your primary DCU account.
Once configured, your device will automatically connect to any eduroam hotspot globally without requiring you to re-enter your credentials.
Notes:
Ensure your device is connected to eduroam for optimal performance and authorisation during the installation process.
If you are performing the initial setup, you may use a mobile data connection or DCU Guest Wi-Fi to download the necessary tools.
If you change your main password you MUST remove the current eduroam profile and run the tool again to ensure you have a working/secure wireless internet connection on Campus
You must not configure eduroam connection manually. Use the following steps to ensure a secure installation:
Connecting a Windows Laptop or PC
Access the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT)
Select Dublin City University from the list of organisations.
Download the specific eduroam installer for your version of Windows.
Locate the downloaded file in your browser or folder and run the installer.
In the installation wizard, select
Next.-
When prompted for credentials, enter them in the following format:
username: Your full DCU email address (e.g.,user@dcu.ieorexample@mail.dcu.ie)password: Your current DCU password
Select
Install.Once the process is complete, select
Finish.Open your available Wi-Fi networks, select eduroam, and ensure the Connect automatically option is enabled.
Warning: If you change your DCU password, you must remove the existing eduroam profile from your device and repeat these steps to maintain a secure connection.

- Open your downloads find the file and double click to start the install
- Select Next
IMPORTANT: enter your credentials in the exact format as below
- username = DCU email address
- password = your current working DCU password
- Select Install
Select Finish to complete the install process.
- Finally, go to your list of available Wi Fi Networks, choose Eduroam and connect
- It is a good idea if you have the option to also choose the option to connect automatically
- This means your device connects when in range (on DCU campus) or other Eduroam Hotspot areas
