This guide helps new Dublin City University (DCU) staff members activate their accounts and configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Digital Technology Solutions (DTS) manages the security of your account to support institutional resilience and a secure digital environment.
Prerequisites: What to Expect First
The DCU People team must first provision your account. They will send a notification email to your personal email address containing your initial login credentials.

Activate Your Account
Follow these steps to complete the activation sequence for your DCU account:
Open the activation email received from the DCU People team in your personal email inbox.
Select the account activation link provided within the email text to access the password reset system.
Enter your Post Number (for example,
xxxxxx-x) and your Staff ID number when prompted. These details are issued directly by HR.Define a new, secure password adhering to standard complexity requirements.
Your finalised DCU account details will render on the confirmation page.
Configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) protects your identity and preserves infrastructural security. You can install and activate your MFA protocols immediately following account validation.
Getting Your Staff ID Card
Staff ID Cards are issued daily at DCU Main Reception between the following times:
9:00am - 5:00pm
ID Card requirements for new members of Staff
New staff upload their own photo to their Core (People XD) Portal page and contact Reception via the DCU People Helpdesk quoting their eight digit staff ID number to request printing of their staff ID card.
